Real Life Is More Beautiful Than Magazine

I have seen these 'Kooples' Youtube videos floating around the Internet for a while now; I love they way this campaign combines natural beauty with street style it really has caught my attention.
(Pret a porter brand uses images of couples spotted in the street in its advertising campaigns.)

"It is something our anonymous couples spotted in the street for example, that's a current campaign. We don't aim to disguise the couples, but just to dress them as though the clothes were part of their wardrobes and dressing rooms. With real people, as anonymous couples we recognise ourselves, we say 'that could be me, she also looks like me too' and that's what stays in peoples minds. My campaign photos use exactly that image; they are taken quickly with a flash in a few seconds, its not a shoot which takes an hour; Its a shoot which lasts 10 minutes. Their isn't too much makeup, hairdressing or retouches. Its really very pure, very unrefined." - Alexandre Elicha, "The Kooples" Artistic Director

Be My Rock n' Roll Queen

I think my fashion inspiration needs a little boost in the wardrobe department, so I was looking around the Internet for a little imagination. I found these pictures from Gypsy Warrior lookbook for Fall/Winter 2010, I know, I know I am a little late to the party but I cant help feel inspired by the images oh and did I mention the men!!!

The mix of Bohemia and Rock n' Roll essence is beautiful in this shoot; being a music journalism and broadcasting student at uni it can be sometimes hard to express yourself through your clothing without seeming too cliche but these lookbook pieces are simply beautiful.

For Richer, For Poorer, Richie Sambora

I have been watching VH1: Behind The Music over the past few days, and I have come to realise that they just don't make bands like they used to. I first watched the Bon Jovi one from how they began as a band and what they were like through the 80's when hair bands were at their peak. I then went on to watch Aerosmith, Guns n' Roses, Poison and Red Hot Chili Peppers, after watching all these great bands, i wish i was around when they really made a difference to the music industry and teenagers of the time. In my opinion the 80's was the best time to grow up around music because everything was so different, the hair, the fashion, the music was all an image that made sense for that era.

Music today is not as good as what I perceive the 80's rock music to be but I am still holding out hope that one day I will find a modern band that expresses the same passion for sex, drugs and rock n roll as the bands I hold up as THE rock bands of the 80's. Mostly they are still going strong today; all be it with less hair and toned down fashion but all the same they are what i think of when I think of true rock n roll bands. I am going to watch Motley Crue and Def Leppard behind the music tonight :) as I am now infatuated with bands of the 80's, it just seemed so sexy then to be in a band or be a 'band-aid'- in the words of Penny Lane herself.

She wears feathers in her hair......

I have been seeing these awesome hair decorations all over the internet lately and have only just realised what they are, wait for the ball to drop, they are beautiful and I love them :)

Now I may be late to this little feather trend, but i have never been one to follow fashion trends anyways, mainly because they go too fast and I am usually unaware, but this time I have to be apart of this. It is too good to pass up on the opportunity to have feathers in my and call it fashion! Now I have tried before to have feathers in my hair but on every occasion they have fallen out or gotten to the point were they look like I have literally plucked them from a bird, not a good look. This time though, I am promised that they will look good, and when I say good I mean that they will NOT fall out and they will NOT look like the feathers you find on the beach, all covered in sand and what not.
Oh and did i mention Steven Tyler wears them, if nothing else sells these amazing hair extentions to you, then the frontman of Aerosmith should!!!

I found this really easy step by step guide on Youtube and thought I would share it with everyone :)

and this is the link to her blog page with the written step by step guide:

It Was Clear That She Was From Another Time

Just a few images I have found around the web for inspiration for my very own homemade pair!!

Pictures from weheartit.com

In the great words of Jamiroquai, 'I must have died and gone to heaven', these lace bell bottoms are absolutely perfect in any colour. I do prefer the black ones though, having said that i think the white lace ones look beautiful with the perfect copper tone tan.... *sigh*....if only!! Now i have done my homework on these beauties and with much regret i have to come to terms with the fact that they are just outside of my price range if my price range was crazy amounts of money but i am a student with student money, which means I cannot justify paying over £30 for a pair. So I have found a way around my fashion fatal by making my own pair!! Don't look too shocked i have made pairs of shorts before from scratch, so i guess making trousers is just the same but with more material, right? Anyways i will keep you updated on my very own pair of lace bell bottoms fingers crossed they work.

Papa Was a Copper and Mama Was a Hippie

All images from The Other F Word

"The Other F Word is a raucous, eye-opening, sad and unexpectedly wise look at veteran punk rockers as they adapt to the challenges of fatherhood. To be sure, watching foul- mouthed, colorfully inked musicians attempt to fit themselves into Ward Cleaver's smoking jacket provides for some consistently hilarious situational comedy, but the film's deeper delving into a whole generation of artists clumsily making amends for their own absentee parents could strike a resonant note with anyone (punk or not) who's stumbled headfirst into family life."

- Andrew Barker, Variety

I can't wait for this film to come out on DVD here in the UK, I know, I know, it is still airing in the cinemas in America, but c'mon they need to share the love and bring it out over here. I have always been interested in other peoples lives, nosey much?, not in a creepy way, but i am just interested in how other people live the way they do and how much it differs from the way i was brought up. Especially as this focuses mainly on the 'dads' that are in their children's lives and how they manage with being fathers to their children. The Other F Word is a small glimpse into the lives of punk rock dads, and i cannot wait to see what happens!! Oh and did i mention that TONY HAWK !!!! was going to be in it too .... *sigh*.......
